Some common faux pas
fashion mistakes

It is a fact that people who meet you for the first time make up your image in 30seconds or even less. This can happen so fast that only your looks and the way you dress get noticed. 80% of what other see is our clothes. According to behavioral scientists when we meet another human being we notice following things in the given order:
1. Skin Color,
2. Sex (male/female),
3. Age, Bearing (height, body language, etc.),
4. Appearance,
5. Direct Eye Contact,
6. Speech.
Some of the above things we may not be able to change but few we can, if we want.
We all want to look stylish and trendy.
But unfortunately we might not be aware, some of us follow fashion trends which are either obsolete or don’t go well with our personality. Some mistakes can easily be rectified with minor changes in the way we dress.

Five most common 'faux pas' by men :

Novelty ties, shirts, boxers etc
Smiley, animals, hearts etc are out of fashion. They only look good on comedians. With a formal suit wear ties, which fall with the contrast of your shirt and suit. Don't experiment with your tie and shirt colors, as they can ruin your personality.

Flaunting Design Labels
If you have an Armani suit, or some other major brand suit, don’t flaunt it by carrying the makes name on your shoulder, back etc. All those brand names look good on models but not on you.

Backpacks at office
If you work in a professional environment, then carrying backpacks is a strict NO! Backpacks usually look good on students or hikers. Carry a nice black/brown leather bag to office.

Shoes
It is said that in men’s wardrobe, shoes are the most evaluated element. Keep your shoes clean and shined. Also keep shoetrees in your shoes when you are not wearing them.

Color Crash
Avoid wearing striking colors, like a combination of red and green. Shiny or glittery suits and shirts should also be avoided. They look good in a party but not in an office. Also keep a check on your coat’s shoulder length. If you find it falling over your shoulders, get then altered by a tailor.

One should not wear both belt and braces. Your tie should reach belt line. Too short ties should be avoided. A properly knotted tie should have a dimple under the knot.
